Meet The Team

Emma is a Human Development major from Baltimore, MD. She is a trip leader for Alternative Breaks and a volunteer with Terps for Change. In her free time, she loves to bake and spend time with her dog. She hopes to pursue a career in medicine.

Mateo Rojas is a Cell Biology and Genetics Major currently interested in neurobiology, genetic engineering, and pharmacology. He’s from Howard County MD, and on campus, spends his time as a member of the Krav Maga/Martial Arts club. In his free time he enjoys working out, going to the pool, and playing ultimate frisbee. In the future, he hopes to work as a researcher in genetic modification, and/or in pharmaceutical RaD. 

Logan is a Neurobiology and Physiology major from Harwood, MD. Logan is a registered EMT along with being a member of the archery, ski, and gaming club. In his free time he likes to play video games, binge netflix and read fantasy novels.  Logan hopes to go to medical school and become a surgeon.

Adebola is a Neuroscience Major with a minor in Data Science. She is from Charles County. MD. She is a TA and mentor in the Gemstone Honors College and works at Children’s National Hospital as a research intern. In her free time she enjoys watching fantasy films, going to the gym, and listening to music. In the future she hopes to become a physician researcher.

 Lydia is a Bioengineering major with a focus in biotechnology and therapeutics. She is also a part of the Society of Women Engineers. In the future, she hopes to work on pharmaceutical and immunotherapy development. In her free time, Lydia enjoys reading, swimming, and playing piano.

Smreeti is a Bioengineering major. She is from Anne Arundel County, MD. She is involved in the Gemstone Leadership Council where she is a TA, and member of steering committees. She is a part of the Society of Women Engineers and the Biomedical Engineering Society. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music, watching Netflix, and hanging out with friends. In the future she hopes to work for biomedicine companies and do clinical research.

Antonia is a Cell Bio & Genetics and Psychology dual degree with a minor in Humanities, Health, and Medicine. She is from Montgomery County MD. She volunteers at her local hospital and tutors 4th graders in math. She is also a part of Club Badminton on campus and IM volleyball. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music and going on coffee dates. In the future, she hopes to become a neurosurgeon.

Madison is a Neuroscience major with a minor in Spanish Language Literature and Professional Contexts. She is from Chicago, IL. She currently works as a TA for the Gemstone Program's first-year experience. She is also a part of the UMD Club Softball team and UMD's Pre-Health Global Brigades. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music, trying new restaurants, and reading. In the future, she hopes to a become an anesthesiologist.

Aamir is an Electrical Engineering major with a minor in Nanotechnology. He is from Rockville, MD. He is a member of UMD Club climbing and works part time at the UMD climbing wall. In his free time, he enjoys climbing, hiking, and being outdoors. In the future, he hopes to work in medical nanotechnology or chip design.

Abby is a Chemical Engineering major with a minor in Sustainability. She is from Frederick County, MD. She works as a research assistant in the Bioenergy and Bioprocessing Technology Lab, and is a part of UMD Club Lacrosse. In her free time enjoys reading, listening to music, and watching comedies. In the future, she hopes to work in clean energy, plastic remediation, or biodefense.

Anusha is a Cell Biology and Genetics major with a minor in Spanish. She is from Howard County, MD. She volunteers with Letter Angels and is a part of Crochet for a Cause. In her free time she enjoys painting, reading, and catching up with her friends. In the future she hopes to become a cardiothoracic surgeon.
